Use your kitchen as your apothecary! It’s easy to create homemade body care products for a fraction of the cost you’d find them at the store out of organic and (mostly) edible materials commonly found in your kitchen or at your grocery store. A large quantity of the ingredients in personal care products nowadays are petroleum-based chemicals, solvents, foaming agents and detergents that are harmful and toxic: not ideal for a healthy epidermis. Healthy skin is the best defense against pathogens, infection, and burns – not to mention a sign of health and happiness overall.
By special request, we’ll be focusing on oils & creams for this class, specifically. Oils such as olive, sunflower, coconut, sesame, apricot kernel, shea butter, cacao butter, jojoba, wheatgerm seed, rosehip seed, argan, avocado, and evening primrose (to name just a few) hold varied potential for a full spectrum of skin care and healing. We’ll cover the basics of carrier and essential oils to familiarize yourself with your ingredients. You’ll make all natural, delicious, good-for-your-face-and-body treats that you can trust to be free of chemicals, cheap fillers, preservatives and other junk that keeps your skin from achieving its radiant potential.
